The 29th edition of the book fair and festival Book World Prague 2024 will take place from 23 to 26 May in the Křižík Pavilions at the Prague Holešovice Exhibition Grounds and will focus on the literature of German-speaking authors in terms of theme.
The literary festival will give an insight into the contemporary literature of 40 countries and regions through 801 performers. Among the star names of the German-speaking countries will be Bernhard Schlink, Peter Stamm and Tanya Stewner.
Children's and young adult literature will be represented by Irish novelist John Boyne, whose book The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas has become a modern classic. The acclaimed Russian author and activist Lyudmila Ulicka will be heading to the World Book Prague from exile. Frenchman Alexis Nolent is a household name in the world of comics, and married couple Alexandra and Alexander Ahndoril are among the stars of Nordic crime fiction. Book World Prague is accompanied by Franz Kafka's quote "A book must be an axe for the frozen sea within us" and the fair commemorates the centenary of the death of this world-famous Prague writer with several events.
The SLC is organising a new form of a representative national stand with an area of 40 m2, number 304 in the KB hall, where over 350 titles from the production of almost 45 Slovak publishing houses will be exhibited.

Utopia in Lenin's Garden or the Czechoslovak Commune Interhelpo
Presentation of the Czech translation Lukáš Onderčanin’s debut, a Slovak journalist who in his documentary novel traces the history of the Interhelpo cooperative, established in Kyrgyzstan to help build the Soviet Union.
