Katarína Kucbelová on a Residency in Berlin

Award-winning poet and prose writer Katarína Kucbelová, winner of the Zlatá vlna 2023 award, will spend a month in Berlin during November and December as a resident at the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin (LCB). During the creative residency, two events will take place at which the author, together with translator Eva Profousová, will present the German translation of her book Čepiec/Die Haube, published in October this year by the Swiss publishing house Ink Press.

- 30 November 6 p.m. at the Slovak Institute in Berlin - The event is intended for the general and professional public, as well as for students and staff of Slovak language lectorates. The event will be moderated by the director of the Slovak Institute, Zuzana Megová, with musical accompaniment on the piano by Michaela Tomaníková. Slovak specialties and Slovak wines will be served.

- 4 December 19.30 at the LCB Berlin – Katarína Kucbelová will perform together with the Moldovan writer Tatiana Țîbuleac, author of the book The Glass Garden, which has also been translated into Slovak. The interview will be conducted by their translators Eva Profousová and Ernest Wichner. The works of both authors are linked by the theme of coercion and repression faced by women in patriarchal and authoritarian systems.

The event is part of the "Souvenir" project, in which around 30 readings by authors from Eastern and Central Europe will take place in 11 literary houses across German-speaking countries from October 2022 until the end of this year. Each of them will bring with them a souvenir to showcase their work and their country.
