Born 18 May 1934 in Lekér. He received his primary education in Banská Bystrica where he also started to study at the local secondary school but graduated in Levice. Then he went to the Teachers' College in Bratislava but couldn't finish his studies because of bad health. In 1953 he worked as a designer at a furniture factory in Zvolen, from 1956 to 1958 he was a school official in Banská Bystrica and from 1958 to 1962 he worked in the Culture Centre of this town. In 1962 he became a producer at the Puppet Theatre, in 1967 he worked for the local newspaper Smer and in 1969 he became an editor of Czechoslovak Radio. In 1974 he returned to the County Cultural Centre. Kováč died 26 May 1992 in Banská Bystrica.
