Lubomír Machala works at the Department of Czech studies of the Faculty of Arts, Palacký University Olomouc, where he mostly teaches contemporary Czech and Slovak literature. He is the co-author and editor of numerous collective works. He translates the works of Slovak authors into Czech. His published translations include three works by Stanislav Rakús: Telegram, Nenapísaný román / The Unwritten Novel and Temporálne poznámky / Temporal Notes, and Dušan Šimko's book Mramor a granit / Marble and Granite. His translations of Alena Sabuchová Šeptuchy / Whisperers and Katarína Kucbelová's Čepiec / The Bonnet are coming out soon.
