Mária Ferenčuhová's poetic debut is a collection of fragmentary texts that work as a commentary to one's own experience and to reality through the perspective of the lyrical subject. The commenting is at times lyrical, at other times it is narrative or even journalistic. Themes of time, of temporality, of time flow but also of the halting of time become evident. Simultaneously, the motif of interpretation, or of interpreting from one code into another (closed captions are subtitles for people with hearing disabilities) is present in the book. In the context of this book it can be understood as a translation of the visual, cinematic and storyline forms of recording of events into a literary language (captions or subtitles can be viewed as a literary addition to a film).
