The book of short stories depicts various forms of relationship vandalism. Different themes and characters reappear in different situations and from the perspective of a different narrator. In doing so, they create symmetrical geometric patterns characteristic of a mandala. In the case of Vandala, however, the union of square and circle does not create harmony, but tension. The title of the book is actually derived from an advertising slogan repeated in one of the stories, the cry of a character selling water on the Brooklyn Bridge: 'Eis vóter vandala / Ice water one dollar'.
