Peter KARPINSKÝ was born in Gelnica in 1971. He studied Slovak languafe and history at the Faculty of Arts of the University of the P. J. Šafárik University in Prešov (1990 – 1995). Since 1995, he has been professor and head of the Slovak Language Department at the University in Prešov. Aside from scientific and literary writing, he is also a lector dedicated to writers who are starting out and he also writes reviews -- most of all on children's books. He lives in Spišská Nová Ves.
